Building The Future For Four Generations

Take a look at a snapshot of Pullum’s history throughout the decades.

The first Pullum woodworking
facility opened in Detroit, Michigan in 1921.

Keeping Detroit Rolling

Pullum got its start by manufacturing specialized, pie-shaped wood blocks which were used to support Ford’s Model T axles during rail shipment to dealerships. Wheels, rubber tires and other components were installed by local dealers prior to delivery

Perseverance Pays Off

To prevent his woodworking business from being shuttered during the Depression, Jack Pullum worked the night shift at an auto factory. By day, he worked to keep his prized window company afloat. Jack’s wife, Bernadine, managed to feed the factory crew and her growing family on just $2 dollars a week.

In the l940’s, a major masonry building addition was completed at the Detroit factory. Due to rationing restrictions, the expansion was constructed in four phases.

Pullum has has continued grow for over a century despite the Great Depression, numerous wars, recessions and increasing government regulations since1921. Over the decades, four generations of family members have led the quest to always exceed customer expectations.
